January 2010 - Zac Sunderland, "Youngest person to sail solo around the world!" Zac Sunderland, the intrepid 17 year old who recently completed a round the world sailing journey on a 36’ Islander, beginning right here in Marina del Rey. Don’t miss this evening as Zac tells of the challenges and adventures he faced along the way. Zac’s younger sister, Abby, is now planning a round the world trip herself, so we’ll also no doubt get an update on her preparations. Mike Priest will discuss the America's Cup , including photos and video recently taken in San Diego when the BMW Oracle trimaran launched the "wing" sail. Mike's previous history regarding the America's Cup includes traveling to and viewing multiple events, including the 32nd America's Cup in Valencia, where he was 18th man for a day on the BMW Oracle team. Join us for an entertaining evening as we break down the racing (barring any new court orders or legal maneuvers), compare the Alinghi entry with the BMW entry, and try to predict the outcome of the remaining races! March 9, 2010 - Wendy Windebank, Sailing in the Caribbean Islands Wendy Windebank, accomplished travel writer and photographer. Wendy's topic was "Sailing in the Caribbean Islands." Hess graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1982 and worked for large law firms in downtown Los Angeles and Century City in the areas of estate planning and other related transactional work prior to opening her own practice in 1989 specializing in estate planning, probate and general corporate matters. June 8, 2010 - a panel of WSA Skippers spoke about how you can take advantage of the variety of on-the-water activities that WSA has to offer.
