Safety and Conduct

• Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs): US Coast Guard-approved PFDs must be worn at all times while on the docks and on the water. No exceptions.

• Safety First: This is a training clinic, not a high-stakes regatta. Skippers are advised to avoid close-quarters situations that risk collision. Safe boat handling and collision avoidance take absolute precedence over tactical advantage.

• Sportsmanship: Participants are expected to maintain a professional, supportive, and respectful attitude toward coaches, race committee, and fellow sailors.

2. Eligibility and Boats

• Registration: All participants must be registered and have signed the event liability waiver prior to the morning briefing.

• Boat Compliance: All participating vessels must be seaworthy, properly equipped with standard safety gear, and compliant with local harbor regulations.

3. On-The-Water Rules

• Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS): The clinic will be governed by the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing, modified to allow for active, on-the-water coaching.

4. Schedule and Attendance

• Punctuality: Participants must attend the mandatory morning briefing to be cleared for the on-the-water sessions.

• Weather Policy: The event host and volunteer skippers will monitor conditions closely. In the event of unsafe wind, sea state, or visibility, scheduled on-the-water activities may be modified, delayed, or substituted with extended classroom instruction.
